User Manual

This manual is for developers who build safety-related software with Slint SC and certify it under ISO 26262. It says what you must do, and not do, so that your use of Slint SC stays covered by its qualification.

User Responsibility

Slint SC is a Safety Element out of Context. It’s developed without knowing the function it will serve, so the assumptions it makes about its environment are yours to confirm.

Validating that the finished system is safe is your responsibility, because Slint SC has no safety goals of its own to validate against. Under ISO 26262 that’s the safety validation of Clause 8 in Part 4.

The constraints in this manual are the other half of that. Each one exists because no measure inside Slint SC can rule out the matching failure, so only you can.

Slint SC’s responsibility ends at the frame buffer. Presenting the rendered buffer on a display, and detecting when the display path fails, is yours.
